This is an unusual for me Madiran 2009 from Pierre Laplace Sarl, with bright clear deep purple color wine with narrow rim and some tears on the glass. Clean on the nose with medium+ developing aromas suggesting cranberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry, wet leaves, white pepper, tomato and vanilla. Dry on the palate with medium acidity, medium+ unripe&coarse tannins, medium+ alcohol, medium body and medium flavor intensity indicating blackcurrant, raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, vanilla and red cherry. This wine balances a zesty acidity and warm alcohol with a well-defined fruit and sinewy tannins. The tannins are powdery and its texture is thin for a refreshing, but angular wine, with medium length. The quality is good for a reasonably balanced wine with good concentration, medium- complexity and length and slightly typical of Madiran.
