«This story takes place on Coral Island in South China’s Hainan Province shortly after the foundation of the People Republic of China in 1949. At that time, some islands in Hainan are still under the control of the Kuomintang army. In this story, a girl named Sister Coral has no other choice but to serve as a concubine of a Kuomintang officer surnamed Dou, to pay for the medicine used to heal her father’s disease. However, on the ship heading for the Dou’s residence, Coral Sister jumps into the sea and swims to Coral Island. Sister Coral fearlessly sends signals to the People’s Liberation Army in their fight against the Kuomintang enemy on the island.
